Braden one month

Sleeping I guess what is considered "through the night". You usually just wake every 2 hours to eat and fall back asleep. But you wake up for the day between 5:30-6 am so were working on that. You grunt all night long and will prob get kicked out of our room soon. You go to bed with Madison around 8:30.

*update* you have been kicked out of our bedroom. Not because I wanted you too but because we needed to try it. Madison hates sleeping in her own room and still ends up on our floor or bed every night. However we told her you could sleep in your crib in her room and she was very happy with the idea so the two of you now share a room and Madison will actually sleep in there. What is really funny is that I usually take you back to my room for the 5am feeding because you just sit awake and grunt for a few hours after and I swear the minute you leave the room Madison knows because within 5 minutes of you being gone she comes walking in to my room. It's kinda sweet how much she loves you.  And really I don't care if you guys end up in my bed every morning. As long as you continue to sleep in till 8:30am then I'm happy.

No real smiles yet, just gas bubbles.

Eating 2-3 oz every two hours
You are now eating more then my boobs can produce so it looks like youre going to be a formula kid.
You poop once every other day and seem to battle tummy issues on the non poop days.

You adore your sister and are always happy when she holds you.

Wearing newborn clothes and diapers.
Weighs 8.2lb and 21 inches long.
Hair lighter brown and eyes are still a dark navy grey color. I can't wait to see what they turn out to be.

You are a pretty chill baby and like to suck on your fingers.

You dislike being swaddled at night because you always want your hands by your face.

If you're crying in the car madi and I sing to you and it usually calms you down pretty quickly.

I am seriously surprised and amazed at the love Madison has for her baby brother. None of the regressing and acting out you hear about. She is nothing but sweet and understanding of Braden. She asks to hold him multiple times a day and is always coming over and loving on him. I am so impressed with th big sister that she is. I think we did a good job prepping her and talking about the change. She understands her role and we constantly giving her praise for her good choices and all her help.

We love our little bubba so much. It's crazy that he has only been here a month but it feels like he should have been here all along. He fits so perfectly into our family. We are truly blessed with such a sweet boy.

This week Madison, Braden and I leave for a 10 hour road trip to Windsor California for the Powell family reunion. Wish us luck because I am terrified.

Braden and mommy at three weeks

It seriously blows my mind how quickly time goes by with kids.

First day of church July 5
2 week check up 21 inches and 8.1 lb.
eating 2-3 ounces every 2-3 hours.
Sleeps pretty well at night but wakes up for the day at 6:30, don't love that part.

Mommy
Pants still don't fit. I think my hips and butt grew a couple sizes and I'm at the strange Inbetween stage right now.
Still lightly bleeding
Boobs still leaking
Crotch stitches still hurting
Tummy still chubby
Tailbone and rest of body still sore. But..... No stretch marks so I consider it a win!

Though I am doing a lot and not just sitting still recovering, I feel like it is taking longer to bounce back in some ways.

Happy birthday mommy

Today I am 27 years old with two kids. Can you believe it?  This birthday was so different from others in the past. So low key, nothing planned and just played it by ear. Zach worked the night before and had a horrible night so I let him sleep in till after 12. Madi spent the last night at Mimi's house and then on my birthday night spent the night at grandmas. It's nice when so many are willing to watch your kid... I almost wished we had planned something awesome. However running on little sleep and still recovering from having a baby, I just wanted to relax.

The morning was spent just Braden and I and we cuddled and watched some tv. The Harmers stopped by for a surprise visit. Then I woke up Zach and we got ready for the day. We took some baby clothes to storage and went to lunch at Natalie's place (the roll up cafe). Next we went back to Mimi's and opened cards and got to see the yummy cake mimi and Madison made that morning.

We picked up Madison and got her overnight bag ready to go to grandmas for her first sleep party with her. Once we got to the Lyman's, Zach and I were supposed to go on a date but again I didn't really have anything I wanted to do. We finally decided to go to California Pizza Kitchen and dragged Jono along with us. After dinner we took Jono home and decided to forgo any fun activity and just hung out at home. We ended up going to bed around 9:30. How pathetic are we? Haha. We both have been over worked the last few weeks so I guess if you give "new parents" free time, the best thing they can do is sleep.

Friday we are going to the pool and in the afternoon the Candy Bomber from WWII will be flying over the park and dropping candy bars so we will take the kids to see that.

Saturday we have plans to wake up super early (Braden does that already) at 5:45am and catch the hot air balloon festival. The off to the pool again for Madison and Zach for a few hours before BBQ and fireworks that evening. Braden and I will be indoors as I am still not allowed in the water and it's just too stinking hot for a new baby to be outside for long. Shoot we will even be inside for fireworks because they are too loud for such tiny ears. Kind of a bummer because it is my favorite holiday but there will be plenty of others in the future.
