I did it!

I made my first thing for you!!!! Now, your mother is not very good at sewing so you will need to give her credit for trying. I am in love with this blanket. Its big, soft and warm. Perfect for my little "pumpkin" to come home in. I am hoping this will keep you toasty during the winter. I am also hoping that this is the first of MANY blankets I will make you in your lifetime and you cherish each and every one. I hope you get my crafty-ness, and I hope you are a heck of a lot better at it then I am.

It has minky for the backing, which is a fabric I love so much.
Sophie tested it out for you as well. She approved.
She approved so much that she almost fell asleep while cuddled inside of it.
Then when I unwrapped her and tried to kick her out, she would NOT move.
I guess I will have to make her one too.. ...

20 weeks

How did you find out you were pregnant?  By taking a home pregnancy test, of course.  I did have a feeling before that I was pregnant though.

What kind of Pregnancy test did you take?  A couple cheap ones and then EPT
How many?  7 total. 6 were negative and then a positive.
What were your 1st symptoms?  Sore boobs.  Hands down.
Who did you tell first?  My husband
Who was with you when you found out?  I was alone in the bathroom then ran out to tell Zach
My 1st reaction: Complete shock. I thought I had been looking at the line for too long and imagined the second line. I cried a little.
Was your baby planned?  yes and no. We knew we wanted to have kids soon. Just not that soon.
When was the baby conceived? New Years Eve from what we can figure.
How far were you when you found out?  Seems like so long ago now.  I think I was 6 1/2 weeks when I got the positive.
How did your parents react?  Super excited.  This is the first grandbaby on my side and number 4 on  Zachs.
My baby
Due Date:  October 1-4 .. it moves all the time.
Do you know the sex?  A beautiful little GIRL
Any names?  We have lots that we like but don't think we will decide anything until she is here.
Any Ultrasounds?  One at my first appointment (9weeks).  One at 16 weeks (found out the sex) and one at 20 weeks for measurements.
Have you heard the heart beat?  Of course we have!  We hear it at every appointment and I never tire of it.
Who do you think it will look like?  No clue. Hoping for a nice mix of the two of us. But maybe more like her mom.
Will the baby have siblings?  She’ll have a big sister (our dog).
Have you felt the baby move?  Yup, Started at 13 weeks she moves all of the time.  Best. Feeling. In. The. World.
Miscellaneous
Did you have morning sickness?  I was nauseous a few times but no where near what I have heard of before. I am very lucky.
Did you have any cravings? Not really. I didn't like Mexican food and one day I REALLY wanted a steak, but that's about it. I like fruit a lot right now.
Did you have any mood swings?  Ha!  All of the time.  My husband has been dubbed the pregnancy saint because he’s put up with me.  I’ve been a real b!tch at times and I’ll be the first to admit it.  I am happy to say that it seems like I haven’t had any bad mood swings lately; I’m seeming a lot more needy and lovey instead.
Are you a high risk pregnancy?  Nope.
Any complications?  Nope.
Formula or Breastfeeding?  I’m going to try to be all about the boob, even though it sort of frightens me.  I know it’s best, so I will definitely try it and hope that it works.
Have you bought anything for the baby yet?  Yep. I have bought a couple blankets to make but so far that is about it.
When did you start to show? I was chubby from about 10 weeks on, but belly finally "popped" around 18 weeks.
How long could you wear your regular clothes?  I bought a few maternity things at 13 weeks for the sheer comfort factor.  I definitely didn’t have a baby bump that early, but I was bloated and opted for comfort.  Best decision. I could still fit into everything until 19 weeks. Just got tired of wearing unbuttoned jeans.
Will you keep the baby’s clothes?  I haven’t thought about this.  I guess we will until we are finished having kids.
Home or Hospital?  Hospital. I want drugs, doctors and everything else.
Natural or Medicated birth?  I want the epidural.  For sure.
Who will be in the delivery room with you?  My darling husband.
Do you think you will need a C-section?  I sure hope not.  I also hope that it all happens when the baby is ready to come out.  Not a fan of being induced either.
Will you cry when you hold the baby for the 1st time?  Of course I will.  I cry at everything and I cannot imagine not crying when I hold my baby in my arms for the first time.  I’m looking forward to it for sure!
What’s the 1st thing you might say to the baby?  Haven’t thought about this.  Maybe “Hi baby, I'm your Mommy, happy birthday."
Will you let anyone video tape the birth? No. Gross.
Are you excited?  While this seems like such a dumb and quite obvious question, yes I am.  Now.  There was a point when I made a shift to the excitement phase because it wasn’t always there.  Well, maybe it was, but the scared feelings outweighed the excited feelings.  Now I can say that I am really excited to be a mom, meet my daughter, see my husband with our daughter, and have a new addition to our family.
Who will help you with the baby after the birth?  My mom will stay with us for however long we need her.  Or get sick of each other and I mean that in the nicest way possible.
What is your favorite thing about being pregnant?  Feeling the baby move.  I love it!
What is the worst thing about being pregnant?  Where should I start?  Feeling large, morning sickness, peeing all of the time, migraines, sweaty feet, lots more hair on my legs, armpits, and belly, pregnancy brain, and I’ll stop there.
What’s one thing you miss doing since being pregnant?  Nothing, I really haven't changed my lifestyle too much.
Any days you wish you were not pregnant?  Of course not.
Are you ready for a baby?  I think so!  Ready as we’ll ever be :)
Do you have insurance?  Yup
How many kids do you want?  We’ll see how the first one goes. Maybe 4.
Do you talk to the baby?  Eh, not really.  I rub my tummy and say Hi!
Do you still feel attractive?  I always thought that I would embrace pregnancy and have a glow to me that was apparent to everyone.  Not really the case though.  I do have days where I feel cute and I have days when I feel like I got run over by a train.  It just depends on my mood.
Have you had your baby shower yet?  Nope, few months
Do you like kids?  Love them.
How far along are you now?  20 weeks and counting…

19 weeks

Oh little one, I have forgotten yet again to keep up with these weekly posts. I am trying my hardest but life threw a curve ball at us and I have had so much to do lately. This week you are the size of a mango. I finally have a "real bump" and people will now ask if I'm pregnant. Before they just thought I was chubby and didn't ask questions because they didn't want to offend me. I wear maternity pants. My wedding ring still fits. No stretch marks yet. I am spilling out of my tops. I get occasional mood swings, but not near as bad as I've heard of. My body is changing in so many ways. Its kind of amazing how it all happens.

The good news is that I got laid off and now get to spend all day just feeling you wiggle around. The bad news is that we really could have used the financial help of me working until you were here. In the process of moving I was working really hard, packing boxes, moving things, not sleeping and staying super busy. I was moving around so much I barely ever felt you. Once things settled you still didn't move for a couple days and I started to get worried. I would lay very still and just wait in hopes to feel you move. Now most websites will tell you that you don't even begin to feel movement until 18-22 weeks. But I swear I have been feeling you since 13 weeks. Its not a lot, and its not very often, but I would feel it. Its not like the "popping bubbles or butterflies" you hear about. You were just a almost rolling sensation, like someone took their finger and dragged it across my tummy on the inside. Very faint. Now your movements are a little more noticeable. Still don't feel real "kicks" but I can tell when you are awake.  My placenta is also in a different spot on the top instead of connected in the back like most people apparently. Which means you have a little more cushion and people on the outside can't feel you kick just yet. Dad can sometimes and I wish you could see his face light up when that happens. He already loves you so much.

Our life is currently living out of boxes in this dumpy little house in Provo, Utah. We are making it work and enjoying the adventure we are currently on. We will only be here for a couple months, so we still aren't quite sure where you will be coming home to, but we still have a few months to figure that out.

I am well into my second trimester and feeling great. I can eat whatever sounds good and have energy for most things. The headaches have gone away for now but I think they were in part to being very stressed. Chocolate gives me major heartburn but I still eat it. So far I have only gained 5 pounds, putting me at 123lb. I told myself I would stop looking at the scale at this point, but I am just more curious then stressed about the weight. Plus I don't want to be completely shocked when they weigh me at the dr office. Our next appointment is Monday, this is the "big ultrasound". They will measure every inch of you to make sure you are growing correctly and that we are still on track with your current due date of October 1st. Maybe I will eat a candy bar before I go so I can see you wiggle around.
